The construction of the Tenuta Meraviglia winery: the first slab and the evolution of the project

Making wine between nature and innovation

The Tenuta Meraviglia winery embodies the perfect combination of innovation and respect for the environment. Designed to blend harmoniously into the landscape, the structure will not only be a place of wine production, but aspires to become a model of sustainable architecture where efficiency, functionality and aesthetics are combined with careful attention to technical details.

A cellar with an extraordinary view

The design of the new winery enhances the beauty of the surrounding landscape, offering a privileged view of the Tuscan archipelago. The project, by SVC Winery Project for Gruppo Dievole S.p.A., envisages a load-bearing structure that maximises integration with the territory, culminating in a panoramic terrace on the first floor.

Functionality is at the heart of the project: the winemaking area will be divided into two communicating sections, with stainless steel tanks on one side and concrete tulips on the other, to optimise the processing of the more than one hundred hectares of vineyard while ensuring efficient management of wine production. A further distinctive architectural element is the presence of inclined columns, which follow the natural slope of the rock and guarantee the stability of the structure.

The structure takes shape with the first floor

After the water channels have been laid, the installation of the first floor is a key step in the construction of the new cellar. This element, essential to the structure, has the task of supporting loads and transferring them to the load-bearing structures below, forming the subdivision of the interior spaces.

The installation of the slab required a preliminary phase of laying the reinforcement, followed by the casting of concrete, a process that requires great precision to ensure the solidity and durability of the entire construction. In areas that require it, the concrete will be levelled by hand to achieve a perfect finish.

The importance of scaffolding and gravity winemaking

After the completion of the first floor, the construction of the Tenuta Meraviglia winery proceeds to the next stage: the construction of the deck and the second floor. Here, further concrete will be poured to complete the structure and two innovative grape receiving areas will be set up, which will exploit the principle of gravity

Thanks to these special reception areas, the grapes from the vineyards will be transferred directly to the processing areas without the need for further steps. This process not only reduces energy consumption, but also allows the organoleptic characteristics of the grapes to be preserved in the best possible way, improving the quality of the wine.

The journey in the construction of Tenuta Meraviglia continues

The Tenuta Meraviglia winery is an example of how engineering and oenology can converge in a sustainable and functional project, enhancing the area’s natural heritage.

With the first slab now complete, work continues with the construction of the vertical connections and the front part of the winery, which we will go into in more detail in the next Construction Story.
