This year, the SVC Winery Project attended the 55th edition of the International Wine and Spirits Exhibition; the event hosted over 4000 exporting companies from more than 30 countries, marking the debut for Serbia, Albania and Northern Macedonia, which presented their labels for the first time.
With no less than 17 pavilions occupied for a net 100,000 square metres of exhibition space, Vinitaly establishes itself as one of the most important platforms for the promotion of the wine sector, allowing direct contact with all companies operating on the markets.
At the request of producers and consortia, the Exhibition Authority has decided to distinguish the route of winelovers from that of professional operators, creating quality projects such as “Vinitaly and the City” and ensuring specific services for buyers.
Musical and literary events will also include two masterpieces of Italian art, Caravaggio’s Bacchus and Guido Reni’s Bacchus, arrived directly from the Uffizi in Florence for the occasion. The aim is to highlight how wine is not only an economic sector, but also a cultural and identity factor.
The thematic areas addressed in this edition were: business, internalisation and positioning, in a mix of appointments that included tastings, masterclasses, talks and meetings. There was also an in-depth look at the marriage between wineries and artificial intelligence, which will enable new frontiers of wine tourism to be crossed in the near future.
The sector, on the upswing post-Covid, recorded a 16% increase in exports for Italy last year, confirming it is a strategic reality for Italy which, thanks to its biodiversity, is able to produce wines of the highest level and with unique characteristics.
The presence of major Asian and US players sanctions the definitive reopening of wine frontiers, contributing to the phenomenon of cultural contamination.
