On June 26, in the prestigious Bolgheri area of Castagneto Carducci, the new Tenuta Meraviglia winery was inaugurated (link) by the Dievole S.p.a. group, a visionary project that transformed the former Cava Cariola into a 7,000 m² production facility.
The initiative, led by ABFV Italia – Alejandro Bulgheroni Family Vineyards, is an example of how human ingenuity can harmoniously merge nature, technology, and design, enhancing a place while respecting its history.
The site, abandoned since the late 1970s, was restored as a virtuous model of landscape integration. Production and plant engineering aspects were overseen by SV Consulting, which selected cutting-edge technological solutions for an efficient layout.
The estate, spanning around 100 hectares of organic vineyards, adopts an approach that preserves the purity of the terroir. Gravity-flow systems have been implemented to handle grapes with the utmost delicacy while reducing the ecological footprint. Wine aging takes place in evocative underground rooms with exposed rock walls, where temperature and humidity are naturally regulated.
The project’s sustainability vision is holistic: the winery has obtained the Equalitas certification, which attests to its commitment in three areas: environmental, ethical and social, and economic.
This project demonstrates how enological vision can be the catalyst for architectural excellence, shaping not only the winery’s physical space but also its productive soul.
